The Green Residence features green building techniques.

The Green residence is nearly complete and ready for move-in according to Block 16 Architects Principal Mark Paccone. Built for Randy and Kathy Green, the 3200 square foot house is located in Bastrop County, the house has several innovative green features that help to conserve energy and water as well as reduce utility costs.

Block 16 Architects designed the home with icynene spray-in insulation instead of the typical batt insulation. Using Icynene® soft foam insulation and air barrier material is one of the best ways to improve energy efficiency and thermal comfort. As a complete insulation and air barrier, Icynene minimizes air leakage in the building structure, which allows for HVAC equipment rightsizing. This saves dramatically on initial equipment costs and ongoing utility costs - Icynene can save up to 50% every month in energy costs versus traditional energy options.

Block 16 Architects designed the farmhouse styled home with a rainwater harvesting system that allows the residents to use captured rainwater for all its water needs. Built by Ryan Van Meter of UR Build Construction, the home also uses the panelized Zip sheathing system.
